Enhance your well-being and find deep relaxation by practicing the art of peaceful breathing in a serene mountain sanctuary.
Dates for 2025:
November 3 (arrival) - November 7 (departure) – Monday to Friday.
The retreat begins on Monday, 11/3, at 4.30 pm and ends on Friday, 11/7 at 11 am ((4 nights).
Retreat Facilitator:
Sasha Yakovleva, an Advanced Buteyko Specialist and founder of the Buteyko Breathing Center, will lead this retreat.
Retreat goal:
Deep relaxation is the foundation for optimal breathing and overall health. When paired with Buteyko breathing exercises and key lifestyle practices, it can significantly increase carbon dioxide levels in the lungs — our vital ity, prana or life force. This retreat is designed to make a practical and lasting contribution to each participant’s well-being.
Who Should Attend:
This retreat is ideal for individuals seeking to improve their breathing, enhance their health, reduce stress, and build resilience. Participants should be open to learning and practicing the Buteyko Method, developed by Dr. Konstantin Buteyko (MD, PhD).
Location:
This retreat will take place at Joyful Journey Hot Springs Resort, located at 7,700 feet elevation in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado. It offers spectacular views of the 14,000-foot mountain peaks. For centuries, Native Americans, Spanish explorers, and early settlers traveled to this place (sometimes for months) to experience the unique healing qualities of the water. Native American elders and other spiritual masters consider this area to be one of the most sacred and energetically active places in North America.
The Healing Waters:
The soothing waters of this area are known for their powers to awaken the hearts and uplift the spirits, as well as various therapeutic effects such as enhanced respiration, restored nervous system, increased metabolism, better blood circulation, increased energy, remedied insomnia and arthritis, and improved immunity.
Naturally heated by the earth’s active geothermal and hydrothermal activity, the mineral waters rise from secluded artesian springs between 120 and 140 degrees and are tempered down to 98-108 degrees in several soaking pools. The water is a sodium bicarbonate type with significant levels of boron, calcium, lithium, and magnesium, along with several other beneficial minerals. No chlorine or other chemicals are added, and there is no sulfur odor that is often present in other hot springs.
